Funanani was founded as an organisation in 1998 and was registered as a charitable trust in 2003. The founder of the Trust, Rina Norden, is the chairperson of our Board of Trustees. The Trust has been constituted as a non-profit making and public benefit organisation with the principal object to raise funds and accept donations for the purpose of establishing, promoting and/or supporting community development for poor and needy persons and anti-poverty initiatives. The beneficiaries of the Trust shall be persons of all ages in need and distress, irrespective of race, religion or sex, as determined by the Trustees in their sole and absolute discretion.
Meet Our Trustees
Rina’s occupation started with a nursing career, but her heart was always drawn to the poorest of the poor of the community. She had a passion to build a bridge between communities and facilitated the process. This was the start of Funanani, and today we have been established for over 16 years. Today Rina is still pioneering new initiatives and programmes to assist the poorest of the poor in communities. Funanani is privileged to have Rina as the Chairperson of our Board of Trustees.
Octavia Matloa is the founder and sole owner of Tsidkenu Inc. She is a qualified Chartered Accountant CA (SA) and a Registered Auditor with the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) and the Independent Regulatory Board of Auditors (IRBA) respectively. Her participation in various platforms in the public and private sector has enabled her to gather wealth of experience; which she continuously utilises in serving our clients. We value her input within the Funanani Trust.
Nevil as the founder of Living Word church in Pretoria, started the church in 1986. As an avid sportsman, he utilised this passion, to also speak into many young people’s lives. Today he is still in full time ministry and Living Word, have several churches planted all over the nation of South Africa, as well as internationally. Nevil is passionate about the work that Funanani is doing for the poorest of the poor and fully supports us.
Dr Mokolane, is a healthcare practitioner, specialising as a General Practitioner, and serving the community of Pretoria. He has been involved with community work for many years and is now also serving the Funanani beneficiaries as a very involved Trustee. He is one of those doctors that is giving more than expected, and loving people unconditionally.
Mr. Moabi, an attorney serving the community of Pretoria for many years, are also running a law firm Moabi Attorneys. He has been involved in different roles within the Law Society of South Africa, but his remarkable contribution lies within the Pro Bono sector. He was also the founder of the Funanani Social Justice programme, bringing legal assistance to the poorest of the poor within their own communities. The Social Justice Programme are still operating in Funanani at our Mamelodi Centre and is run by different lawyers and attorneys giving their time and assistance on a pro bono basis.
